Chief & Andrew

When you think of an Assistance K9 you naturally think of a dog that has been trained for somebody with a disability, this story is a bit unique. Andrew was 5 years old when his sister Mckenzi was diagnosed with Leukemia. Andrew and Mckenzi had always been close and this was hard on him to not have her available to spend time with.

Mckenzi was 4 months into her treatment when we got Chief from Bob. Chief wasn't intended to be anything but a family pet. Andrew and Chief were instantly best friends. After having Chief for about a month we decided it was time to send him back to Bob for training.

Chief went to Bob's for 5 weeks. Our hope was that he would receive training that would make him more controllable and better behaved, what we got back was a blessing our family will cherish for ever. He is the most obedient and loving dog we could have hoped for. Chief reads our emotions perfectly and shares our moments with us. Most importantly, Chief has been that steady friend for Andrew through these tough years. Their relationship is unique, best friends with unconditional love.

Don't be fooled in thinking that an Assistance K9 has to perform tricks like picking up pens and opening doors. Our Assistance K9 (Chief) has provided andrew with unconditional love and companionship through Mckenzi's treatment.

You see, the way the United States K9 Academy trains their dogs is special. It's not your average, generic, pet store, temporary solution, training. The United States K9 Academy trains dogs to be lifelong companions. It's special, there just isn't any other way to put it. You couldn't offer a million dollars to get Chief away from our family, he is that special. I would recommend the United States K9 Academy to train any dog for any purpose.

So what kind of Assistance K9 is Chief you might ask? Chief has been the best therapy possible for Andrew while his sister went through treatment. I can honestly say that without Bobs training we would not have the quality in Chief that we do. While all the attention was on Mckenzi, there was someone who always thought of Andrew first, Chief!

Thank you USK9!
