Meet Mary Hyams

Dear Friends:

Mary came to us for a K9 this past summer.  She has had polio since she was a child, and has been in a wheel chair ever since.  We introduced her to Ezekiel, and they became a team right away.  “Zeke” is a male Hungarian Vizsla, and has been in training for Mary, learning to walk by her chair, pick-up and retrieve objects, help her open doors, etc.  Zeke has been trained to be “brainwave & body functioning sensitive” and can detect seizures.

However Mary took a turn for the worse with her many disabilities.  About three months ago she had to be rushed to the hospital with acute pain in her body.  She has suffered greatly, and has been diagnosed with Cancer.  So lately “Zeke” and I have been making trips to the Hospital, and now to her home, where she and her husband Kip, who keeps constant vigilance over her day and night, with God’s help, are fighting for her very life.  My trips to see Mary have had a real effect on my life.  I take “Zeke” and pump life into her everyway we can.  It is a real fight for Mary, and “Zeke” is a very powerful, loving, funny, wonderful tool, that brings her delight, desire to live, and a special kind of love that Mary knows is especially just for her.  “Zeke” does love her, and that love has a balancing, stabilizing, and calming affect on her.  We love you Mary, and “Zeke” loves you.
